Julie Harrell: Photographer

I said I wasn’t going to shoot any weddings this year, but I decided to do one, the wedding of Shannon and Brian. Shannon’s sister, Carrie, was my first bride ever (and one of my dear college roommates). When Carrie asked me to shoot her wedding, I felt completely inadequate in my experiences to shoot a wedding. Her mother had said, “well you have to start somewhere!” And so I did. Their family is dear to my heart on many levels. Since I’ve known Shannon since she was in high school there was no way I could refuse this special day. Her fiancé, Brian, is clearly her right hand. They seriously complete each other (“you complete me.”) I bet he also had her at “hello.”

So, I had this nice long post about Amy and Brian, and I have no idea what happened to it!! I just took a look at my blog and all the writing is missing….hmmm! I’ll have to re-write what I had written earlier. Strange Strange I tell ya!

Deb and Doug are in Love. Seriously… I got goosebumps just watching the two of them together! Here are some photos from the night before the wedding. Thanks to my sister in law, Jenni, for assisting me!

Here they are!! The engagement photos of my sister and my new brother in law (yes, the are now married). The joys of being family is that you get a nice “discount” on photography. The downside is that is takes a little longer for me to get to them all! I posted a few more than normal, but they were so gosh darn cute!

I’m so happy to be blogging again! I’ve been out of commission because of a move. We moved from our house into a condo… it turned out to be an emergency move, but we are happier and healthier in our new place… AND I’m back on the photography circuit. So I’ll be posting some more of my catch-up work in then next week or so! Thanks for your patience. I’m so excited to share these photos of Justin and Amanda. Amanda has been one of my dearest friends since our freshman year of college. My life wouldn’t be the same with out her….it would probably be a mess. She keeps me on track! She is getting married in May, to Justin, whom I also met my freshman year of college, and he is super fun and charming himself! It’s been fun finding potential photographers for her wedding (I’d do it, but I’m in it). She decided to go with Ella Blue, a great husband and wife photography team in Seattle! I’m super excited to meet them. Their work is amazing. So, with out more rambling, here are Justin and Amanda’s long anticipated engagement photos!

It was a fun adventure shooting engagement photos with Kristen and Peter. The morning greeted us with downpour, but we continued on our journey to Hope, BC. We scrambled down to Emery Creek for the session and afterwards went to Hell’s Gate for dinner, a gondola ride, panning for gold, and yummy treats! We had such an amazing day, and the rain actually stopped for the duration of our shoot (well, mostly). The day couldn’t have been more perfect! Chris and I had so much fun with you two! I hope you enjoy your photos!

I had a great time meeting Diane and Bob for an engagement session in Fairhaven. One of the best parts of the this photo session was being able to shoot with Amy Parsons! Diane is Amy’s sister-in-law, and she is a kick! She had me laughing so hard at times! They were quite the fun and spunky couple–and up for shooting anywhere us crazy photographers wanted to take them!

Whatcom Falls park welcomed the engagement session of Jeff and Vicki! It was a typical Bellingham evening, no rain–just some high clouds! Perfect weather for the park! I was thinking back on the session, and could not decide which moments were better—the dancing (they had some pretty fun moves), or Jeff’s amazingly funny faces! Watch the slideshow if you want to them! I think one of my favorite moments is when the mallard duck couple came swimming by to check out Jeff and Vicki! Thank you both for a fun and relaxing evening shooting! I am so looking forward to the wedding this fall!

I can’t even begin to talk about how much fun it was to shoot this e-session with Rose and Jessy. They drove up to Bellingham to shoot photos at Marine Park, where they were engaged! The tide was super low, so we had fun splashing and playing in the bay. After we were all dried up, we went to this fun wall to finish off the photo shoot. I had stumbled across it while driving one day, and noticed that someone had cut a heart shape into a wall of ivy. I knew immediately that I wanted to take Rose and Jessy to the “Heart.” As soon as that finished a train came by. I was able to photograph a special kiss with the train blowing its horn in the background (cough cough…totally planned of course… cough cough). Thanks Rose and Jessy for a wonderful afternoon.
