Jackson is a football player at Meridian High school, and a golfer. I met Jackson and his family at their home to snap a few family photos, and instead moving on to my previously scouted locations for the rest of the senior photos, I ended up shooting the majority of his session at their amazing property. Jackson was up for whatever I had in mind, and of course I was able to get a few extra special smiles when I asked about his gf! Thanks Phillips family for a great evening! Your family is beautiful and so full of love!

So I am totally playing the same game of blog catchup, and have a few posts to come in the next days… but I’m excited to finally share photos of this beautiful family! I first photographed the Denton family when their first daughter, Riley, turned one. Now they have two daughters, and Sonja is in the “one year old” chair. When I first saw Sonja I thought I was looking at Riley how I remembered her! And it was difficult through out the session not to call Sonja “Riley.” I’ll throw in a photo of Riley from when she was one, next to Sonya at one. They could be twins. Both girls are beautiful and happy, and the camera loves them! Spending a warm fall evening at Boulevard Park at sunset with the Tyler and Elizabeth, and those gorgeous girls, made for a wonderful night. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do!

It was about time I got to photograph the Schmitt Family! Katrina and I do MOPS together, and for the past few years she has patiently waited for me not to be pregnant/on maternity leave/ or booked for a time to do their family photos! She kept on me and finally we planned a summer evening family session at Whatcom Falls Park. Katrina had warned me before hand that she doesn’t like photos of herself, so my goal was to give her at least one image of her beautiful self that she appreciated! I’m pretty sure I met that goal. You are one good looking family, and nice job on outfits! You all looked awesome! And as for narrowing down which photos I wanted to share on the blog? Well once again I am posting way too many, story of my life :)

Little baby Emersyn is pure perfection. She did all the things a newborn photographer prays for the day of a shoot. She was wonderful to hold, I sometimes had a hard time putting her down as I changed out props and settings. You know the invigorating feeling of watching fireworks every time 4th of July roll around? The awe of the lights and booms, no matter how many times you’ve seen them? I have similar feelings with newborns. No matter how many times I see one I’m constantly saying, “I can’t believe how small he/she is!” I’m in awe at their tiny features and their super light weight When I came home to Juliet, who I still picture as a newborn, she seemed more like a big kid than a 7th month old. Its amazing how fleeting those first few weeks are. That window of time is almost magical… well if you consider being delusional and the blur of sleep deprived a form of magic. Either way its one of the most incredible occasions shared between a parent and child. Even though it seems like a hazing into parenthood, its beyond words. I’m privileged to capture a few moment of those weeks and blessed to hold such beautiful life with newborns sessions, and this session with Emersyn was as perfect as she!

Last year I did maternity and newborn photos for Kristin. You may remember this photo of her “pre baby Abbie” and “post baby Abbie.” It is still one of my favorites to date. Last year I did maternity and newborn photos for Kristin. You may remember this photo of her “pre baby Abbie” and “post baby Abbie.” It is still one of my favorites to date. This year we combined Abbie’s 1 year old photos with a family photo session including the grandparents and her Brother and Sister-in-Law’s family. There’s something about those special moments shared between grandparents and grandchildren that are wonderfully captivating to capture on film. I don’t happen upon those moments too often. Usually its at a wedding or with our own families… so I’m in love with each frame of Abbie, Emma, and Busi with Kristin’s parents. Kristin’s dad, Mr. Whitlock as we know him, is also Madeline’s PE teacher, and he was also nominated “Teacher of the Year” this past school year. Madeline was pretty excited that her mom got to photograph Mr. Whitlock. And as for miss Abbie, I’m once again amazed at how much a baby changes in one year (her newborn photos are here), I can’t get over her red hair. I’d do anything for hair like that :) Thanks for the fun songs and dances Whitlocks and Blakelys!

Emma was a little sad about something, but she was still so cute, I couldn’t help but capture some of those sweet tears!

Ok, so Jude wasn’t quiet two in these photos, though only a couple months shy of that infamous age. You might remember his 1 year old photos, and his awesome “Made in Oregon” shirt, hence the nickname. Now Jude is almost 2, and he still sports that same smiling personality and those killer baby blues!

It was an absolute joy to photograph the almost 2 year old son of my dear friend. Neens has been one of my best friends since we were barely teenagers. Doing life together is an enjoyable journey, and just the fact the we both have kids now is crazy, since it seems that yesterday we were kids ourselves. We met up in our old hometown for a day to hang out and for portraits. Usually Chris and I and the girls will travel down to Portland to visit, or they will gallivant up to Bellingham, but this time we met in the middle. Jude was a perfect subject, full of assurance and cuteness. Just don’t get me started on his posing… seriously, all the charming poses were his own!! We were all dying with the funny faces and contortions, so much so that I kept forgetting to shoot as I was snickering. I just adore this little guy (and his family). And many thanks to his grandparents for having our family over for good food and good company that day!

Aven has blue eyes. Ok, you might think… so do a lot of kids… but what is really special about Aven’s super light baby blue eyes is that both her parents have brown eyes!! I have dear friends who both have really blue eyes and ended up with a brown eyed daughter, which is rare; but to have two brown eyed parents end up with a blue eyed beauty, now that is just remarkable!! Aven was a happy perfect 1 year old, and a joy to photograph. I did quickly learn the name of their dog, Eleanor, who wanted to play at the park instead of join in the photo shoot :) Reminds me of a girl I know, coughclaracough. I did, however, manage to get a few snaps of both dogs looking, bonus points!! Enjoy the pics… once again I couldn’t narrow down which ones to share, so I am posting too many–story of a photographer’s life!

I love LOVE love, like for real I’m not just saying that, LOVE, to shoot one year olds, especially if I did their newborn photos. So often, when I shoot a newborn I don’t get to see them grow from baby to pre-toddler. The change is so dramatic in that first year.

I love one year olds also because they usually aren’t super mobile yet… I’m never let down for a super scrumptious smile, and they are still so innocent and sweet. Yes, sometimes it is hard to get that token smile, but there are so many other interesting and enjoyable expressions in between. Jeremiah didn’t miss a beat on the cuteness cue. He can very easily be put into the more active category, but gosh he had me laughing… and I had him climbing cement stairs. I thought he’d be up for the challenge. And even though I’ve seen him a few times through out his first year after photographing him as a newborn (photos here), I was shocked at how “bigboy” he’d become. It was a wonderful shoot with Jeremiah and his brother Gideon and mom and dad :)

The past 3 years the Fuller’s photos have been taken with all the traditional fall colors. This year we decided to mix things up a bit. I think I want my family photos taken in the same location. I cannot get over how much the children have grown or how much of a little model the oldest Aly is! She had all the right poses :) Dee, great job on the outfits, and I love the girl’s hair clippies :) And yes, there are a TON of images, but I am having too hard of a time narrowing down favorites yet again, so thanks for letting me post them all ;)

When looking at the photos the other day, a friend commented, “Its too bad their girls don’t have the most beautiful eyes you’ve ever seen or anything!” Yup, they are definitely heart breakers in the making. Thanks for a great evening shooting around town Brian and Shannon!
